ZX-TV-CC
ZX Spectrum color palette conversions of television screenshots featuring closed captioning text. The sentence-fragment titles are drawn from the closed captioning visible in each source image. Originally created in 2012, these works were minted as NFTs in December 2021.
Concept and Process
Each work takes a screenshot from broadcast television — specifically moments where closed captioning is visible — and processes it through the ZX Spectrum’s limited color palette. The resulting images combine the lo-fi aesthetic of 8-bit computing with the mundane poetry of television dialogue fragments.
