Description

Max Capacity was selected for the Screen Saver Gallery programme and PAF’s “Kinetics of Image” section as an author of popular digital art — recognized for work consisting of thousands of static and animated GIFs that fetishize the specific “defects” of analogue video through their “true” digital simulation, thematizing the inner kinetics of image.

The section was interested in the motif of image decomposition — the “dilapidation” or gradual “dissolving” of images during dynamic processes of projection and animation. Topics included historical film experiments, glitches, and images performed via the internet or sculpturally exhibited.

Other artists in the PAF Kinetics of Image programme included Gábor Ösz, Takeshi Murata, Yoshi Sodeoka, and Tomáš Svoboda.

Screen Saver Gallery was presented and subsequently exhibited on a row of publicly accessible computers in the heart of the festival.
